GUITAR ROCK CHORDS

Guitar Rock Chords are generally major chords, minor chords, power chords, dominant seventh chords, and suspended chords. These chords are generally do not have lot of chord tones in them. They are generally the foundation chords with the root, third and fifth tones. Or Dominant Seventh that are just dominant seventh or dominant seventh suspended chords.

Two note chords come into play often in the rock style, usually the root and fifth note, the root and flat fifth note, the root and fourth note, or the root and dominant seventh note of the chord. These are know as guitar power chords. These types of chords mentioned above are the key guitar rock chords of the rock style.

These chords can be patterned on the fretboard in many ways. This gets into theory, your fretboard road map / study, and musical application.

Being one of the key essential elements of guitar and music, guitar rock chords are one of the three blocks that includes arpeggios and scales. Many times guitar players either get good at playing and understanding chords while being very weak at playing guitar arpeggios or guitar scales, or vice versa.
