GUITAR COUNTRY CHORDS

Guitar country chords are often major chords and dominant 7 chords, and many times are moved around the fretboard in partial chord forms as chord licks. The difference between guitar country chords and other guitar music chords is more how the chord is played in relation to the rhythm, timing, amplifier sound and added extra lick notes. This is why you need to know your scales as well. They are an integral part of the chord playing in the country style.

Guitar Country chords are often arranged close together for fast chord changes and fast scale lick changes. Understanding your chord forms and scale forms on the fretboard is very important for playing guitar country chords and licks. You need to be able to move fast and change your guitar pentatonic scale often for example. It is also important to really understand and be able to apply non-scale tones to your scales as this is what country players do a lot to get the type of sound and runs that they create.
