Bass Blues Scale - Master It All Over the Fretboard

The bass blues scale is another name for the pentatonic scale. More specifically it commonly refers to the minor pentatonic scale. Getting even more specific, it commonly refers to a minor pentatonic scale with a flat five added to it. Another name for this scale, is the minor pentatonic flat five scale. This makes it a six note scale.

You may wonder why we didn't say the bass blues scale is simply a minor pentatonic scale with a flat five added to it right off the bat. The reason is that when it comes to soloing, and since we are using the term "bass blues scale", which is used in many styles and is by default the essence of blues, that is not your scale to learn per se.
