METAL BASS CHORDS ARE NOT JUST POWER CHORDS

Bass power chords are not the only types of bass chords used by various metal bands such a Metallica and Iron Maiden who use steady speed metal bass chord rhythm playing and the kind of bass metal chords that make this music great. These chords can be made up of a variety of bass chord types such as 2 note or doubled octave 3 note power 5, power b5, power 4, suspended, altered, augmented, etc. The Major 7 chord for instance is more of a jazz chord, it is not the kind of chord type that you are going to find leading the list of ultimate bass metal chords.

There are many different bass fingerings for the various types of power chords. Even though they may sometimes be considered easy chords, there is much to how to play them, and how to make musical application of them in the various styles of music such as the metal bass style. How you use and view bass metal chords in a particular arrangement, especially power chords, will affect the approach to the type of lead bass soloing path that you will take.

For example, using bass metal arpeggios and chromatic fill in notes, with good bass dynamics and speed picking, can give you some great metal bass riffs. Try combining the metal type chords, with arpeggios and chromatic runs combined with some great processor effects and you will have some awesome metal compositions.
