BEGINNER BASS
The beginner bassist needs to understand that because they do not know the level of musical and fretboard theory required to have any true success with the instrument, they are likely to often spend lots of time and money on various unproductive lessons and teaching materials.
The beginner bass player needs to start right off with a bass school - pro level bass education to begin with, so that within a years time, they can be playing and understanding things that bass players who have been playing for years don't know how to do or why to do it.
Beginner bass players are too coddled and treated with kid gloves for fear that they might be learning too much. We feel that if you are going to spend your time and money in any endeavor, including learning and playing the bass, then you want to get the best approach possible. You may think a beginner doesn't know how serious or dedicated they want to become so they don't need much to start out with.
That logic however, will result in a self-fulfilling prophecy as the beginner bass player soon will start to feel that they are taking so long to learn so little. In addition, the more fragmented studies they pursue, the more they will realize that learning the bass to a level of getting good at really understanding music will be a frustrating and impossible task.
